HTML has certain tags, called Meta Tags, the represent metadata about a specific webpage. When viewing a webpage, you will not see the Meta Tab nor does it have any impact on the appearance of the web page. If a user wants to view the Meta Tags associated with a webpage, they have to view the HTML source code for that webpage. Read more
SEO tools, which ones do you buy? I have been asked this question many times. When you have a site ranking high in the search engines you get asked these little questions. I use a whole list of tools so I can’t share them all, but I will tell you some main tools you need to get started in SEO and to start moving your site up. Once you start moving you can buy more expensive tools.
The first tool I use any time I am doing any SEO project is a keyword tool. There are tools like Good Keywords, The Google Adwords Keyword Tool and even Wordtracker. I really think anything in terms of keyword research that you pay for is a waste of money. All I look for is how many searches a term gets a month, then from there I can decide if I want to spend the time targeting it or not. Read more
Every few years there are some changes in the search market and alter not only the way people search, but where they search at and how they search. This search evolution has taken place several times already and it appears that we are heading for a new one.
Look at the early 90′s, when the first engines or search platforms were being produced. At that time, people just looked at categories and then selected links they liked within that space. This was the norm for a couple of years as sites like Yahoo and Excite were first started. These early engines didn’t even have a search interface to allow people to type in their own keywords. Microsoft’s new search engine, or decision engine as they call it in the advertising, Bing was launched last week with some fanfare. In addition, Microsoft has started an aggressive marketing campaign to get people familiar with it. I for one was excited about it and ready for it to launch as I’ve been reading more about it over the past few month. Originally called Kumo, the launch of Bing last week was somewhat of a surprised, but welcomed. The following are some of my thoughts about Bing, it’s search, and how it compares to Google.
In addition, I must say that I’ve now changed all of my default searches to Bing as I felt I was getting more of the Internet in a better way, than I was getting with Google and their controlled net. I look at Google now the way I looked at AOL ten years ago. If you want to search the full Internet you can’t do it on Google, as they have restricted, blocked, and penalized any site that they didn’t like. Read more
There has been so much hype on both of these new search engines that it’s getting to be too much. I’ve been hearing about them for almost a year now, and yet, we still wait. Both engines are expected to be released this month, but there has been no official announcement and both sites are still not functioning. To take a step back, let’s explain what they are, and why the hype.

This is Microsoft’s next attempt at beating Google. They are redoing their Live search, and adding more features, as well as re-branding it into Kumo. Read more
I’ve been working on a project that has me trying to do bulk uploads on Google Local to get listed in tons of cities across the country. However, I was able to get one batch of a small quantity through, but ended up getting the next batches flagged, even though there were the exact same as the one that got through.
Now, I’ve read that getting flagged in their system is no big deal and to just make some adjustments and keep trying until you get your listing approved. Read more
I recently read a great article talking about the change that is inevitably going to come to the search industry. Right now the search engines are still only searching a small portion of the net, and with the abundance of information being generated everyday on social networks like Digg, Twitter, Facebook, and more, it’s impossible for them to keep up. This means that until they can figure out a way to search the information faster, and be able to know how to get certain data and not other sensitive data, then there is no way for them to be able to really search the net.
